The Cook & Boardman Group ("Cook & Boardman" or "C&B"),  the nation's largest distributor of architectural doors, frames, hardware and specialty products has announced a major expansion of  their online product catalog with the addition of commercial doors from Masonite Architectural (Masonite) to their ecommerce portal at www.cookandboardman.com.

Combining the convenience of online purchasing with access to C&B's network of industry experts, the site now offers a large selection of commercial doors from Masonite's Aspiro™ and Cendura™ series available in 13 factory finishes and an industry-best shipping commitment of  5 days. Customers can choose from non-rated or fire rated doors and select from a wide range of pre-machined hardware configurations.

The Cook & Boardman Group Acquires Building Specialties Company

The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC (“Cook & Boardman” or “C&B”), a leading specialty distributor of commercial door entry solutions and systems integration services announced today the acquisition of Birmingham, Alabama-based Building Specialties. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Building Specialties was founded in 1954 by W.P. “Chief” and Leola Caddell whose vision and dedication provided the foundation for the company to become established in the commercial door and hardware business. Through the years, Bill Caddell, Jr., Paul, and Pat Caddell provided many years of leadership which allowed the company to continue successfully into a third-generation family business. The CEO and owner, Paul Caddell, attributes the success of the company to the hard work and professionalism of the employees who are in the Building Specialties family.

The Cook & Boardman Group is a portfolio company of Littlejohn & Co., LLC. Building Specialties represents C&B’s ninth acquisition since being acquired by Littlejohn in October 2018.

The Cook & Boardman Group Acquires Advantech

The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC (“Cook & Boardman” or “C&B”), a leading specialty distributor of commercial door entry solutions and systems integration services announced today the acquisition of Dover, Delaware-based Advantech, Inc. (Advantech). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1990 by Eric Schaeffer and three partners, Advantech is a full service security integration company serving a wide range of educational, governmental, commercial and healthcare customers in southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and the Washington D.C. metro area. The company specializes in large facility security, fire and life safety systems, access control, video surveillance, intrusion protection, emergency communication and identity management solutions. 

Under terms of the agreement, the company will continue to operate under the Advantech name as a division of A3 Communications, which was acquired by Cook & Boardman in April 2019 and is one of the nation’s fastest growing systems integration companies. Advantech CEO Dave Sweeney will continue to lead the organization after the acquisition.
