The Cook & Boardman Group CEO Receives C-Suite Award

Darrin Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC, has been recognized for exemplary leadership and community engagement in the Triad (NC) Business Journal’s annual C-Suites Awards. The program honors outstanding C-Level executives for their leadership in guiding their companies through the unprecedented challenges of 2020 and their invaluable contributions to the community.

During Anderson’s four years at the helm of Cook & Boardman, the company has successfully completed 16 acquisitions and now operates more than 60 locations in 18 states. A West Point graduate and veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Darrin serves on the USO Southeast Region Board of Directors and is the Chairman of Drive FORE The Troops, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving and supporting veterans and active duty members of the U.S. armed forces and their families.

The Tennessean Names Cook & Boardman as a Top Employer for Middle Tennessee in 2021

Cook & Boardman’s Nashville-based branch, a leading distributor of commercial door entry solutions, announced today that the company has been recognized as a 2021 Top Workplace in Middle Tennessee by The Tennessean

The award is solely based on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey. The anonymous assessment uniquely measured 15 drivers of engaged cultures that are critical to the success of any organization, including alignment, execution and connection.

The company is a divisional branch of The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC, and is overseen by Branch Manager Tim Elam. Located at 345 Mason Road in La Vergne, the office employs 66 associates and specializes in providing the Volunteer State and beyond (including national accounts) with commercial doors, frames and hardware.

The Cook & Boardman Group Announces New B2B Mobile Application

The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC (“Cook & Boardman” or “C&B”), the nation’s leading distributor of commercial door entry solutions and security integration services, has announced the launch of a new mobile app that seamlessly connects users to more than 20,000 commercial doors, hardware, access control and specialty (Division 10) products available at www.cookandboardman.com

In addition to online shopping, the mobile app user will have access to an extensive library of technical resources, including instructional videos, installation and troubleshooting guides and reference materials. Users can also chat live with an industry expert who can assist with product or application questions.

Available for iOS and Android operating systems, the new business-to-business (B2B) purchasing application streamlines the path to purchase for any wholesale buyer. Additionally, an app-specific push messaging module allows Cook & Boardman to engage directly with buyers by announcing new items for sale, special deals and other important information.  

The app is available for free download on the Apple App or Google Play stores. 

American Building Services Launches New Website and E-commerce Portal

American Building Services (or “ABS”), Illinois’ premier supplier of architectural doors, frames, hardware and specialty products, including electronic access control and systems integration services, has announced the launch of their new company website and e-commerce portal at www.ABSChicago.com.  

 

Established in 1968 and acquired by The Cook & Boardman Group in 2019, ABS serves the commercial, educational, institutional and multi-family housing markets in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. As a division of the nation’s largest commercial door and hardware distributor, ABS offers a full suite of services not available through any other source - including pre-installation of hardware, systems integration services and access to more than 25,000 online products available for quick shipment through Cook & Boardman’s e-commerce store.

 

“Site visitors will have access to extensive technical resources including a library of tutorial videos, downloadable white papers and the ability to chat live with an industry expert,” noted Lee Menn, ABS’s Executive Vice President and General Manager.

The Cook & Boardman Group Acquires H&H Door

The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC (“Cook & Boardman” or “C&B”), the leading specialty distributor of commercial door entry solutions and systems integration services, has announced the acquisition of Victoria, Texas-based H&H Door (H&H). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1977 by Rick Huegele, H&H is a turnkey provider of opening solutions including doors, frames, hardware, overhead doors, access control, intrusion detection, fire systems and Division 10 specialty products. The company operates under three divisions: Doors & Hardware, Overhead Doors and Integrated Security Solutions, and serves customers in Central and South Texas from its headquarters in Victoria and an additional office in La Grange, TX.

The Cook & Boardman Group Acquires James Doorcheck, Inc.

The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC (“Cook & Boardman” or “C&B”), the leading specialty distributor of commercial door entry solutions and systems integration services, announced the acquisition of Philadelphia, PA-based James Doorcheck, Inc. (JDI). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1932, James Doorcheck is a leading distributor of commercial door opening products and is highly regarded as a total solutions provider – furnishing, installing and repairing steel doors and frames, wood doors, electronic access control equipment and Division 10 specialty products. The company serves the Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia and North Carolina markets out of its headquarters facility in Philadelphia, PA and additional branch location in Virginia Beach, VA.

The Cook & Boardman Group's CEO Darrin Anderson is Appointed to USO SE Region Board of Directors

The USO Southeast Region, the non-profit military service organization whose mission is to strengthen America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country throughout their service to the nation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Darrin Anderson to its Regional Board of Directors. 

Darrin Anderson, CEO of The Cook and Boardman Group, recently began a two-year term as a board member at the USO Southeast Region. “The USO has an immense capacity as a military service organization to positively impact the lives of our service members and their families,” said Anderson. “As a West Point graduate and veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm, I’m honored to serve on the Board and eager to contribute to the quality of service associated with the USO.”

Regional board members serve as USO’s goodwill ambassadors, helping to bridge the gap and build relationships between military and civilian communities and raise awareness about military service members and their families’ needs. The regional board of directors’ roles and responsibilities also include advising the USO Southeast Regional President, Jim Whaley, and his staff on active duty service members, fundraising, and strategic initiatives.

The Cook & Boardman Group Acquires Building Specialties Company

The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC (“Cook & Boardman” or “C&B”), a leading specialty distributor of commercial door entry solutions and systems integration services announced today the acquisition of Birmingham, Alabama-based Building Specialties. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Building Specialties was founded in 1954 by W.P. “Chief” and Leola Caddell whose vision and dedication provided the foundation for the company to become established in the commercial door and hardware business. Through the years, Bill Caddell, Jr., Paul, and Pat Caddell provided many years of leadership which allowed the company to continue successfully into a third-generation family business. The CEO and owner, Paul Caddell, attributes the success of the company to the hard work and professionalism of the employees who are in the Building Specialties family.

The Cook & Boardman Group Acquires Advantech

The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC (“Cook & Boardman” or “C&B”), a leading specialty distributor of commercial door entry solutions and systems integration services announced today the acquisition of Dover, Delaware-based Advantech, Inc. (Advantech). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1990 by Eric Schaeffer and three partners, Advantech is a full service security integration company serving a wide range of educational, governmental, commercial and healthcare customers in southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and the Washington D.C. metro area. The company specializes in large facility security, fire and life safety systems, access control, video surveillance, intrusion protection, emergency communication and identity management solutions. 

Under terms of the agreement, the company will continue to operate under the Advantech name as a division of A3 Communications, which was acquired by Cook & Boardman in April 2019 and is one of the nation’s fastest growing systems integration companies. Advantech CEO Dave Sweeney will continue to lead the organization after the acquisition. 

Commenting on the acquisition, A3 Communications President Brian Thomas noted, “Advantech is highly regarded for their technical expertise and excellent customer service and we are thrilled to have them join our organization. Our companies’ common values and similar cultures will allow us to accelerate our growth in this critical market.”
